Kids Workshops

 

Sarah Glover is running a series of fun, hands-on & interactive cooking workshops.

Teach your kids the joy of creative cooking outdoors. The day will be spent learning about safe fire cooking, native ingredients and easy recipes your kids can master. The day will also include an apple garden tour in the orchard and apple juice of course!

Craft will also make up a portion of the day as we will be documenting the process of cooking each recipe with a polaroid camera and creating our own bush recipes books as a lasting memory of the day.

Classes will be limited to 25 children per day so that social distancing requirements can be adhered to.

… and did I mention it also means parents get the day free to relax or tour the distillery (more info on the distillery below).

During this intimate day your kids will learn:

  • Safe fire building: Selecting wood, wood placement, fire structure and maintenance. Also the importance and danger of cooking with fire and how to safely put a fire out

  • Cooking with fire: Approach to both flame and coal cooking

  • Tripod creation: Forage and build a tripod with found items

Cooking over the fire your kids will create, photograph and enjoy:

  • Fish: Fish on a stick

  • Sauces: Selection of native bush sauces

  • Side: Potato rosti and smoked cabbage slaw with hung apples

  • Bread: Yoghurt bread

  • Dessert: Fire bananas

They will then craft to take home with them:

  • Photographs: Polaroids of their day, recipes and creations

  • Bush recipe book: Crafted recipe book including polaroids of themselves

  • Food: Toffee apples

All this will be enjoyed with Sarah at the beautiful setting at Willie Smiths.

While your kids are enjoying all the magic of cooking in the outdoors, it frees you up to learn about good ole Tassie spirits at Willie Smiths.

Over the 45min tour you’ll take a stroll through the distillery and learn the process of creating unique cider spirits and fine apple brandies. If you or your child are unwell please do not attend this event.
If you choose to cancel due to government restrictions or because you are feeling unwell a credit voucher will be generated for you to use at a later workshop or for Sarah Glover’s online store.
If this event is cancelled due to government restrictions a refund will be issued.
